"Falaise
Verte" refers to the famous anthology of Zen paradoxical
anecdotes, the Pienlu (jap. Hekigan Roku, eng. Blue Cliff
Record) while referring also to the Ardèchois environment where the Center
is located.
The Falaise Verte Center is headed by Master Taikan Jyoji who founded it
in 1976 on his return to Europe from Japan after 7 years
in the Rinzai Zen monastery of Shôfuku-ji in Kobe.
His Master, Yamada Mumon Rôshi was one of the most prominent Zen figures
of the 20th century. Today’s successor to Yamada
Mumon Rôshi is Kohno Taitsu Rôshi.
Taïkan Jyoji heads the sesshin
which take place at the Center as well as Kyudo seminars for the practice
of which the Center is equipped.
Besides, the Center hosts seminars in various disciplines
which share a common spirit with Zen (Martial arts, Buto, Shiatsu...).
Located in Ardèche on a 50 acres estate in the Eyrieux valley, twenty
minutes away from the Valence train station (Paris –Valence: 2h10mn
by high-speed train), the Center offers a quiet and peaceful environment
stimulating concentration and the practice of a discipline. The river
Eyrieux flows below, the forest offers numerous walking trails and the
Center provides tasteful vegetarian food. |
